Steve Caunt racing went into last Saturday Nights feature event at Sydney Speedway knowing it was a night of testing in readiness for the new season kicking off in September 2012, The SCR team were on a nothing to loose attitude as the team had lost 4 rounds during the season with either mechanical woes or away with other commitments.
The format for the last Sydney Speedway show was somewhat different, time trials & two B mains, something different to try & Steve Caunt was up to the challenge.
The SCR #9 MJ Rowles KPC was out in group C and timed in 6th out of 16 cars in the group, for an overall position after time trials of 17th out of 44 cars, a result the team was happy with considering the set up they chose.
Steve was out in heat 1 with a P2 starting position, he quickly grabbed the advantage and shot out to a comfortable lead, "car felt good, it was good to put that race win under our belt & look forward to the rest of the night ahead"
With the times result & heat race win Steve made the top 10 pill draw, something unique to Sydney Speedway, The top Point man pulled a number 8 marble giving the Fire Service plus #9 a P10 starting spot for the A Main. Steve got off to a good start & kept out of trouble as the start of the race was frantic, at one point Steve managed to be sitting in 7th place on the track, as the laps fell away the SCR MJ Rowles/Fire Service Plus #9 KPC finished the main event in 8th position, Steve had this to say after the main event "We managed to stay out of trouble, i felt good in the car as we got into 7th at one stage, we finished 8th for the night. Our car wasn't the best it has been we tried something we had wanted to all season, but it was not the best decision, but one im happy to have tried"
With the Sydney Speedway track Championship now finished the SCR team finished in 6th place, not bad considering the team missed 2 main events during the season due to a crash on the twin feature night which cost the team a staggering 80+ points.

The Steve Caunt Racing team led by Our Crew chief Gary Laneyrie, Andy Hibbert, Dave Hawken, Klapicus Caunt, Emily Caunt, Teagan Caunt, & my wife Dee-Ann and joining SCR for the last part of the season Trev Wishart, the entire team did a great job all season long at every venue SCR attended and I thank them for their efforts. "said Caunt this week"
SCR would also like to extend a big thanks to the curators of Sydney Speedway, not an easy job & most times it goes 50/50 with conditions, but without them we cant race.
During season 2011/12 Steve Caunt Racing again stepped outside its requirements to provide Australian Sprintcar fans with something special, Jason Meyers two time & current World of Outlaws Sprintcar Champion ventured down to Australia to compete in selected race events such as Warnambool Classic, Kings Challenge event the rain shortened Scott Darley memorial race, Jason was on our shores for 5 weeks, this is at great expense to SCR but one that sits well with the team. The Jason Meyers tour was well supported by our sponsors who were all very supportive: MJ Rowles Landscaping, Craig Duren. GKR Transport, Laneyrie Electrical, Goldstar Transport, Hoosier Tire Australia, Nowra Toyota, Signtism & Andy's Signs, SCR appreciate the assistance and we look forward to bigger things next season.
The Steve Caunt team learnt some valuable information during this visit, not only for the driver but the crew as well, SCR are in better for the visit and the SCR cars are now faster. Some setups we wouldn't dream of using but really work great and the newly purchased Garrett Motors are an awesome power-plant to drive.
The Steve Caunt Racing team continued to set the bar high with promotion within the sport. To Marty Haines from I98FM Wollongong for putting the SCR in connection with ST George Illawarra Rugby Legaue Coach Steve Price, Thank You for trusting our guys at SCR to deal with such a task. Thanks to you too Steve Price for showing me a coach is a leader and Mentor as well.
Steve Caunt Had these things to say while speaking this week.
"Elite Racing USA may become a past tense soon but thank you to the team and crew and past owners for hosting me for 5 weeks on the road on the World of Outlaws program. The last thank you is to the Meyers Family for coming to Albion Park (Wollongong) for 4 weeks and seeing our tourism spots. Thank You Jason and Robyn for treating the Caunt Family and Crew like family. Thank You to all the tracks that said Yes to Jason & SCR and help cater for our needs."
Next season is sure to shock some, and most will be awed by what SCR have planned. Jason Meyers has confirmed he will return and Continue a race program with us. Another American whom is currently what I call a Sensational Superstar will also run for 2 weeks with SCR, this will shock many but the though of seeing this USA superstar in action will have race fans coming from afar.
SCR would also like to announce they have a New Major partner to add to long Term Sponsor MJ Rowles, this announcement forthcoming & is very exciting for the team.
Steve Caunt Racing isn't planning on too many events in Sydney, the SCR team has put a schedule together that will see them across the wide range of Australia and help cater for our partner and Friend Jason Meyers.
The SCR Schedule will be Announced in the Off Season, stay tuned to www.stevecaunt.com for upcoming releases & dates.
